Martin Saldana

Born in 1874, Saldana grew up at Rancho Neuvo in Mexico. In 1950 he attended children's art classes at the Denver Museum of Art becoming devoted to painting until he died in 1965. Saldana's ideas came from his imagination. Memories of youth dominate his canvases, particularly the romantic notions of his life as a cowboy. Technical elements stem from his Mexican heritage. There are no intentional social undertones- --his images are fresh and innocent. Allison Totten, Art Historian.
