David Marchwick
David was born (1963) and raised in
Bozeman, Montana.

“My paintings often reflect an instant in life
just before a storm or the moment of
silence before a change in the environment.
I paint the landscape from a grand perspec-
tive, at times almost abstract and balanced
by the detail of the Renaissance painters”.
Initially, the paintings seem realistic and
after extensive viewing become more
abstract. Keeping with the natural environ-
ment and vast vistas, Marchwick’s paintings
could be termed “skyscapes”. The northern
latitude of Montana results in what has
been named “Big Sky Country”; the atmo-
sphere dwarfs even the tallest mountains.
Marchwick captures this without losing the
imposing nature of the topography. Like all
good romantics, he manipulates the sky’s
natural lighting to create an emotional and
spiritual mood.
